American breweries make some of the world’s best craft beer, and that’s on display at the annual American Craft Beer Experience (ACBE) held in Tokyo this year from November 6th to the 8th at the Kiba Park Event Plaza and Outdoor Stage. Now in its 11th year, the festival offers an impressive array of beers from Japan’s importers, including more than a few specialty beers and collaborative beers brewed especially for the event. Retailers can scout out options for their bars, bottle shops, or restaurants, while beer fans from the general public can simply delight in the liquid feast on hand. It’s an outdoor festival and free to enter; simply pay as you order. The prices are quite reasonable for imports of this quality.
This year, beers from roughly forty breweries will be poured. As with previous years, there will be brewery representatives and brewers in attendance from some of the breweries. We know from their own testimony that they love attending this event (it’s a chance to go to Japan, after all!). Come out and mingle with them while they’re in high spirits. These interactions are a part of the fun of this event. In addition to the beer, there’s live music and great food available, too.
There will be more than a few breweries that are familiar to beer drinkers in Japan and regular attendees of ACBE: Sierra Nevada, Fremont Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing, and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery to name a few. But there’s also quite a few new ones this year so plenty for yearly attendees to explore.
Note that some of the brewers attending ACBE will be hosting independent events at select retailers both before and after the festival. Below, we’ll add updates as we receive them from the importers. For now, here are the basic event details:
